Van Horebeek impressive in Kester
14/06/2010Jeremy Van Horebeek was impressive this past weekend as he switched to the 450cc Kawasaki for Round 2 of the Belgian Championship held in Kester. A regular front runner in the MX2 World Championship, Van Horebeek quickly adjusted to the more powerful machine and surprised many as he posted the 2nd fastest time in timed practice, a mere 0.13 of a second off championship leader Ramon.
In the first moto of the day the ‘Jerre’ suffered a poor start, but before long was cutting his way through the traffic. Lap after lap Van Horebeek clawed his way through, passing many MX1 GP regulars on his way to a well deserved 4th place.
Moto two was a better start for the young Belgian, but a lap one collision with Pourcel left Van Horebeek back in 11. With the track getting a little rougher and slightly one lined in this moto the ‘Jerre’ was not able to come through the field as easily as he did in moto one. At the end of anther high paced race the ‘Jerre’ powered his 450 across the finish line to take 6th in the race, and 6th position overall for the day.
“I really enjoyed the 450, this is my first ever race on the bigger bike so I am very happy with how it went. I am not used to the power and especially off the starts I didn’t even know how much gas to give as the gate dropped. In both races I came through the pack quickly so that gives me a positive feeling heading into the German GP.” Commented Van Horebeek.
This week Van Horebeek will make his final preparations for Round 8 of the MX2 World Championship, due to take place in Teutschental, Germany, next weekend.
