Jeremy Van Horebeek shows amazing speed in Belpuig

16/05/2010

CLS Kawasaki Pro Circuit racer Jeremy Van Horebeek has shown amazing speed at the 5th round of the FIM MX world champs in Bellpuig, Spain.

‘The Jerre’ qualified 6th in Saturdays 20 min race, giving him a good pick of the gate for Sunday’s 2 x 35mins motos.   The determined Belgian, grabbed a reasonable start in Moto 1 and rounded up the first lap in 10th.  Van Horebeek really put his head down on lap two as he rocketed to 6th but a lap later he made a mistake and went down.  Quickly rejoining the race the number 89 Kawasaki was once again back on the gas  as Van Horebeek had to fight from 13th to 8th spot behind reigning World champ Marvin Musquin.

An unlucky start to moto two would see both CLS Kawasaki Pro Circuit team-mates on the ground as Van Horebeek was unable to avoid a first turn pile up.   Remounting last, he was determined not to give up and started an inspiring race back through the pack.  Van Horebeek had amazingly made it up to 12th by the halfway mark and just kept getting faster as he dropped his lap times every lap.  With five minutes remaining he set his sights on 6th place man, Kullas, but just ran out of time at the chequered flag to settle for 7th spot.

“I am so frustrated about today” admitted Van Horebeek. “My riding is great, speed is there but no luck comes my way when I need it.  I know I have the potential to be on the podium and with my speed in the second moto I know I can fight for the win, but I need to put it all together and stay out of trouble.   I’m looking forward to racing in the US in two weeks and if there is one place I would like to be on the box it is there, so I’ll be working hard up to the race.”

The famous Glen Helen circuit in San Bernardino California will see the CLS Kawasaki Pro Circuit racer wanting to prove his worth in two weeks time.
