The ‘Jerre’ unlucky in Portugal
09/05/2010Jeremy Van Horebeek made the journey to Agueda in Portugal this past weekend in order to contest Round 4 of the MX2 Motocross World Championship. During a Saturday of mixed weather conditions the CLS Pro Circuit Kawasaki racer was very fast, but a first corner crash left him fighting back from 22nd position to eventually qualify in 11th position.
The gate dropped for the first moto on Sunday and as the pack headed into turn two a rider crashed in front of Van Horebeek, taking him down. The ‘Jerre’ quickly re-mounted but his front brake had been damaged and was not working. Riding his best with only the rear brake working correctly the ‘Jerre’ finished in a very disappointing, but hard earned, 18th position.
Lining up for the second moto the ‘Jerre’ was ready to make amends for the first race. Quickly recovering from a poor jump out the gates Van Horebeek got his head down and was charging hard. Posting very fast lap times the ‘Jerre’ couldn’t be slowed as he fought through the field, ultimately crossing the line in 4th position.
“The first moto was just bad luck, but it is very frustrating as that result has cost me a lot of points in the championship standings. The second moto was great, I love it when the track gets rough, for me the rougher the better! The bike was very fast, but for some reason I am battling to get the starts, this is something we are all working on improving though. This week we will spend time testing here in Portugal before we leave for the GP in Spain next week.” Commented Van Horebeek.
