The ‘Jerre’ endures tough Dutch GP

26/04/2010

The ‘Jerre’ endures tough Dutch GP CLS Pro Circuit Kawasaki racer, Jeremy Van Horebeek, headed into the Grand Prix of the Netherlands with high hopes of a podium in front of thousands of Belgians that made the short trip across the border into Valkenswaard, Holland, this past weekend.

Although the ‘Jerre’ was lightning fast all weekend in the deep and rutted sand, lady luck was just not on his side. In the short qualify race a crash left the frustrated young Belgian with a poor gate pick for Sunday after crossing the line down in 19th position. In a class where a good start is crucial the ‘Jerre’ knew he would have to work extra hard in the two GP motos.

The gate dropped for the first MX2 moto on Sunday and as the pack wrestled through the first two turns the ‘Jerre’ could not be seen emerging through the chaos, unfortunately he had been taken down in a small pile up. Van Horebeek was outside the top 30, but undeterred he quickly set off chasing the pack ahead. Lap after lap the number 89 Kawasaki was cutting through, until in the end he crossed the line in an well ridden 11th position. The second race would see a better start for Van Horebeek as he powered down the first section of the demanding circuit in 10th position.

Again with great speed and determination the ‘Jerre’ was able to quickly get some passes in as he clawed his way up to 4th position by the end of the race. Van Horebeek and the CLS Pro Circuit Kawasaki Team will now begin preparations for the GP of Portugal which takes place on the 9th May at the spectacular Agueda circuit.

The ‘Jerre’ talked about his weekend:”I am a little disappointed to come away from a circuit that I really like without a podium, I had high hopes for this race. The season is still long though and lots of other riders are still going to have their bad days! I also look forward to the upcoming GP’s, I like Agueda in Portugal, and then we have Bellpuig in Spain where I won the GP last year, so hopefully I can do it again!”
