Van Horebeek luckless at Swedish MXGP.
06/07/2009KTM Factory Junior racer, Jeremy Van Horebeek, experienced a luckless 11th round of the FIM MX world championship in Uddevalla Sweden this past weekend.
The nineteen-year-old, Belgian got off to a great start in the Saturday qualifying race however the advantage was short lived when a rider collided with ‘The Jerre’ as he exited the first turn, sending him to the ground. Frustrated with the incident, Van Horebeek chose not to give up and remounted his mangled machine and gave chase to the long gone pack. Eventually catching the back end of the pack he fought for every position right to the chequered flag ending up 27th.

With a wide gate pick for Sunday’s GP, Van Horebeek was left with a mammoth task ahead of him. He was positioned mid-pack after the opening lap and looking for ways past the riders ahead. Moving up the scoreboard Van Horebeek finally worked his way up to 15th position with a last minute charge.
Technical gremlins put an end to Van Horebeek’s second moto before he could even complete one lap. A jammed rear brake lever forced a frustrated Van Horebeek to the sidelines robbing ‘the Jerre’ of valuable championship points.
“I don’t know what to say really” said the disappointed youngster. “It’s tough when I know I can achieve much better results and when I cannot control the bad luck I am having. I’m looking forward to these 3 weeks coming up before Lommel. It will allow me to rest my shoulder a little and to test some settings for the sand. It will be my home GP and Lommel is the place where I got my first podium last year so I want to turn my luck around and keep fighting to get back on track.”
The Belgian GP will take place on the 1-2 August.
