Van Horebeek mixes it with MX1 GP stars in Kester
15/06/2009Twice Belgian MX2 motocross champ Jeremy Van Horebeek took part in Round 2 of the Belgian Championships yesterday, in which he contested in the MX1 class on board his smaller capacity MX2 bike. The ‘Jerre’ felt that mixing it up with the MX1 GP riders would push him harder as he prepares for Round 9 of the MX2 World Championship taking place in Germany next weekend.
As expected in the opening heat, the ‘Jerre’ was not quick off the line on the MX2 bike, but still managed to close lap 1 in 10th position. With his amazing corner speed the KTM Factory Junior rider soon made passes on the MX1 guys as he sliced his way through to 6th position by the end of the race.
In the second heat Van Horebeek surprised everyone as he rocketed out the gate and challenged the leaders, powering his 250SXF around the opening lap in 3rd place. Unfortunately the ‘Jerre’ dropped it on lap 2, putting him down outside the top 20. Quickly re-mounting and setting chase, Van Horebeek managed to get back through to 12th position by the end of the short race.
Heat 3 was another tough start for young Belgian as he exited turn 1 mid-pack. Once again the ‘Jerre’ hunted the MX1 riders down as one by one he made the passes, getting all the way through to 7th position, taking a well deserved 8th overall for the day.
Next weekend Jeremy Van Horebeek heads to Teutschenthal in Germany to take part in Round 9 of the MX2 World Championship.
