The ‘Jerre’ gets top 5 in British Grand Prix
01/06/2009KTM Factory Junior Team rider, Jeremy Van Horebeek headed to Mallory Park in England for Round 7 of the MX2 Motocross World Championship this weekend, looking to continue the great form he showed in Spain just two weeks ago.
The Saturday qualifying race turned out to be a tough one for the ‘Jerre’. Following a great start and chasing for the lead Van Horebeek made a number of mistakes, which on each occasion left him on the floor. With just no time in the short race to recover from these crashes the frustrated Belgian crossed the line in 26th position.
In the opening moto on Sunday the ‘Jerre’ got a decent jump out the gate, but was slightly boxed in on the first corner. On the slippery, freshly watered circuit, Van Horebeek rounded up lap one in 12th position, just behind team mate Joel Roelants. Determined as ever the KTM rider got his head down to business and started making the passes, edging passed the elite competition on a very one lined circuit. At the end of a hard-hitting race Van Horebeek crossed the finish line in 8th position.
The second moto saw a better start for Van Horebeek as he drifted his 250 SXF out the first corner in 6th position. Riding a solid race from start to finish the ‘Jerre’ crossed the line in 5th position, awarding him 5th overall for the day.
The ‘Jerre’ had this to tell us at the end of the day: “The goal I set myself after Spain was to push for a top 5 overall position at each GP, and I am really happy that today I have achieved that. In the first heat it was pretty tough to make the passes because the track was one lined and all the guys were riding well. The second heat was a little better for me. This week I am going to spend some time doing recovery training ahead of the French Grand Prix in Ernee next weekend.”
