Van Horebeek takes 2nd overall in Round 3 of Dutch Championship

22/05/2009

Following his nail-biting win in last weekend’s Spanish MX2 Grand Prix, Jeremy Van Horebeek had a relatively short trip to Round 3 of the 7 Round Dutch Motocross Championships today, which took place at Rhenen in Holland.
The ‘Jerre’ was at home straight away on the rough sand circuit as he rode a steady qualifying session to post the 5th fastest lap.
In Heat 1, as the riders all closed the opening lap, Van Horebeek was in a strong 4th position, hot on the heels of the leading pack. By lap 12 the ‘Jerre’ had worked his way into the lead, however fellow KTM Factory Junior Team rider Roelants was not letting him get away easily. Roelants made a pass on Van Horebeek towards the end of the race, however on the final lap the ‘Jerre’ powered his way back into the lead and took the race win.
Heat 2 saw a better start for Van Horebeek as he rounded up lap one in second position, on a track that was now incredibly rough. Riding a smooth trouble free race the ‘Jerre’ jockeyed back and forth for position with the leading pack. At the end of the 35 minute race Van Horebeek crossed the finish line in 4th position, giving him 2nd overall for the day.
At the end of the day the ‘Jerre’ had this to say:”I enjoyed today, the first heat was great, it is always good to win. In the second heat the track was really rough and I made a few mistakes. I didn’t want to push too hard and go down so I just decided to keep it smooth and keep myself in one piece for next weekend’s World Championship round in England.”
Jeremy Van Horebeek is due to take part in Round 7 of the FIM World Motocross Championship at Mallory Park, England, on the 31st May.
