Successful weekend of racing for Jeremy Van Horebeek.
04/05/2009KTM factory junior racer, Jeremy Van Horebeek travelled to France on ‘May Day’ to compete in the fourth round of the French MX Elite championship and then returned to Belgium for the Tongeren MX international in preparation for the fifth round of the FIM MX world champs in Portugal next weekend.
Van Horebeek’s French outing started well with the 19-year-old mixing it up with current MX World championship leader, Gautier Paulin and other French contenders, Marvin Musquin and Steven Frossard. Van Horebeek showed good speed on the hard pack Plomion circuit and posted consistent results placing the Belgian third overall in the MX2 class.
Travelling back to Belgium for Sunday’s Tongeren MX International, Van Horebeek lined up against a GP packed field of MX1 and MX2 racers for three motos. Battling with his bike setup, Van Horebeek still managed to post consistant results of 7-7-6 with his best result coming in the final moto where he ended as first MX2 rider among a star line up.
“I have missed some important races with my shoulder injury so I wanted to race as much as possible this weekend to get my race speed up. The French championship was good to do because it is good preparation for Portugal next weekend. I could also see my speed compared to guys like Paulin, Musquin and Frossard and I proved that I can match them. Tongeren should have been a little better as we battle with bike settings but I’m confident we will be ready to go next weekend” explained Van Horebeek.
With round 5 of the FIM MX World championships taking place next weekend in Agueda, Portugal, Van Horebeek is determined to get back to the results which he started his MX2 world championship campaign off on.
